Lash Extensions

Everything you need to know

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent individual lashes that are adhered to your natural eyelashes and can be created in many different lengths and styles. It is our utmost importance to ensure you maintain healthy natural lashes whilst wearing Lash Extensions, therefore depending on your lash condition and strength – lengths, thickness, and styles will be discussed within the appointment to ensure we create the right set for you.

We offer three different types of Lash Extensions – Classics, Hybrids and Volumes:

Classic Lash Extensions

Classic Lash Extensions are the most natural looking Extensions, enhancing the length and giving a slight fullness to your lashes. Applied as one Lash Extension per natural lash, they are perfect for first-time Lash Extension wearers or anyone wanting that more ‘natural’ look.

Hybrid Lash Extensions

Hybrid Lash Extensions are a combination of Classic and Volume. Usually offered with a 50/50 ratio between a Classic Lash and a Volume Lash. Hybrid Lashes are versatile in offering a denser look than Classic, without the typical fullness of Volumes. They’re great for anyone experimenting with the different styles of lashes, if you have naturally fine or sparse lashes, giving a little extra to your Classic set, or for someone who just does not want to commit to a full volume look.

Volume Lash Extensions

Volume Lashes are multiple Lash Extensions applied per natural lash. They are usually lighter in weight per individual lash than that of a Classic, yet offer a fuller, darker, and sometimes a more dramatic look. Clients can opt for a lighter or fuller Volume set depending on the desired outcome.

*At The Beauty Room Airlie Beach, we usually offer Volumes from 3D-5D, if you would prefer/ usually get thicker than this, please contact us directly.

*All Lash Extension sets are customised to suit exactly what the client is looking for. Depending on your own lash condition and strength – lengths, thickness, and styles will be discussed within the appointment to ensure you get the right set.

Pre-Care – Lash Extensions

Please arrive eye make-up free & please avoid using any oil-based products on or around the area the day prior in prep.

Aftercare – Lash Extensions

Remember, aftercare for your lashes is extremely important to maximise the retention and maintain a clean healthy-looking set. Please make sure you read every point. The DON’Ts are extremely important!

The Must DO’S

Brush your lashes at least once a day. Not only does it help neaten your lashes up after you’ve been asleep, but giving them a brush will in fact brush away any loose skin cells or dirt etc, giving them a mini clean (you do still need to give them a full clean though!)

If you have not invested in a Lash Cleansing Kit, you need to! We do stock them at the salon, so please ask about these during your next visit. Lash Cleanser is a specialized formula containing non-harmful ingredients to help clean your Lash Extensions. Gentle downward motions will help remove any dead skin cells, old make-up, oils, dirt and bacteria that can eat away at the glue or add extra weight on to your lashes, resulting in your Extensions not lasting as long or damaging your own natural lashes.

Take photos and tag @thebeautyroomairliebeach. We LOVE to see your selfies!

The DONT’S

Why? If your Lash Extensions get wet before the glue has completely dried, it can cause the glue to dry too quickly, cracking the glue, meaning the bond between the natural lash, glue and the Extension isn’t as strong and therefore not lasting as long!

Same reasons as above, due to the moisture. For the first 48 hours please be wary of how close your face is to the oven whilst doing any cooking, if you work somewhere with a glass cleaner please stay away and avoid having a bath/sauna. You can still shower as normal, just not super-hot and steamy.

Oil will break down the glue and slide those Extensions straight off. If you are wearing any sunscreens, please ensure you give your lashes a good cleanse afterwards.

We naturally produce oil within our skin, so again, any oils on the glue will break it down and slide the Extensions straight off.

This will not only pull the Extensions out, but can also damage your natural lashes as well.

Most mascaras contain oil therefore will break down the glue. If you wear mascara over the top of Lash Extensions this can damage your natural lashes when washing/pulling the mascara off, as well as creating a barrier on your natural lashes for when you next go for your routine Infill appointment. Strip lashes will add extra weight on top of your Extensions that has not been accounted for, excess glue will stick your Lash Extensions together and will be near impossible to maintain a clean set or infill afterwards. If you have an event coming up and you need more volume adding to your Extensions, plan ahead and speak to us during your next infill.

This will cause extra pressure to your Lash Extensions, can disrupt the bond and bend your Extensions. Sleeping on your back or carefully on your side is fine. If you’re worried, invest in a Lash Extension friendly eye-mask!

It all sounds like hard work, but once your aware of the Do’s and Don’ts they really are simple to get used to and easy to care for. We hope you love your new lashes and your experience with The Beauty Room Airlie Beach. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

It is our utmost importance to ensure you maintain healthy natural lashes whilst wearing Lash Extensions, therefore, depending on your own lash condition and strength – lengths, thickness, and styles will be discussed within the appointment to ensure we get the right set for you.

Classic Lash Extensions are a natural-looking style, enhancing the length and giving a slight fullness to your lashes. Applied as one Lash Extension per natural lash, they are perfect for first-time Lash Extension wearers or anyone wanting that more ‘natural’ look.

Hybrid Lash Extensions are a combination of Classic and Volume Lash Extensions. Usually offered with a 50/50 ratio between a Classic Lash and a Volume Lash. They’re great for anyone experimenting with the different styles of lashes, if you have naturally fine or sparse lashes, giving a little extra to your Classic set, or for someone who just does not want to commit to a full volume look. Hybrid Lashes can be altered in density depending on what you are looking for.

Volume Lashes are multiple Lash Extensions applied per natural lash. They are usually lighter in weight per individual lash than that of a Classic, yet offer a fuller, darker, and sometimes more dramatic look. Clients can opt for a lighter or fuller Volume set depending on the desired outcome.

Lash Extensions do require maintenance. They need washing, brushing and infills to keep them looking full, fresh and healthy. Lash Extensions need washing to ensure any dead skin cells, old make-up, oils, dirt and bacteria are safely wiped away, not only for hygiene reasons but clean lashes actually last longer!

Just like your brow hairs, your lashes are also continuously growing and falling out! So, if you see Lash Extensions coming out with your natural lashes attached, that is completely normal! You can actually lose between 2-5 natural lashes a day depending on your growth cycle! Things that can affect your natural growth cycle are; age, diet, hormones, medication, pregnancy, season of the year, stress levels, temperature and humidity of where you live (ie: hotter climates generally speed up your hair growth!) So, if you’ve just moved here and your body is not yet used to the hot humid climate of Airlie Beach, then expect your extensions to fall out a little quicker to begin with.

If you are thinking of getting Lash Extensions or you already have them, please ensure you are familiar with the Aftercare do’s and don’ts to ensure your set lasts as long as possible whilst maintaining healthy natural lashes.

Please arrive to your appointment eye make-up free & please avoid using any oil-based products on or around the area the day prior in prep.

Your natural lashes are always growing and falling out, with or without Lash Extensions attached. You can actually loose between 2-5 natural lashes a day depending on your growth cycle! So it is completely normal to loose natural lashes throughout your normal growth cycle.

To keep your lashes maintained, infills are recommended every 2-3 weeks.

In short, no, Lash Extensions do not ruin your natural lashes. So long as they have been applied correctly and by a certified reputable Lash Artist, the Lash Artist has considered the strength condition of your natural lashes before applying extensions, you follow the correct aftercare and look after your lashes. For more information on this topic, please visit our BLOG.

Not for the first 48 hours, and then yes, you can get your lashes wet. Following the correct aftercare for Lash Extensions is important to ensure your Lashes last as long as possible and don’t cause any damage to your natural lashes. Cleansing your lashes daily/ every second day is part of your aftercare, so getting them wet and washing them with a Lash Extension Cleanser is a crucial part of your aftercare.

The adhesive used is waterproof, so once you have passed your first 48 hours of having the Extensions, you can swim with them. Please note that salt water and chlorine can affect the length of time your Lash Extensions last, so please ensure you cleanse your lashes after water-based activities with a Lash Extension Cleanser.

Mascara is an absolute no. Most mascaras contain oil therefore will break down the glue. If you wear mascara over the top of Lash Extensions this can damage your natural lashes when washing/pulling the mascara off, as well as creating a barrier on your natural lashes for when you next go for your routine Infill appointment.

No. Strip lashes will add extra weight on top of your Extensions that has not been accounted for, excess glue will stick your Lash Extensions together and will be near impossible to maintain a clean set or infill.

Oil will break down the glue and slide those Extensions straight off. If you are wearing any sunscreens, please ensure you give your lashes a good cleanse afterwards.

Lash Extensions last anywhere from 3-4 weeks with the correct aftercare (some clients may experience longer). Some factors affect the longevity of the Lash Extensions, such as the amount of humidity, steam (saunas, steam rooms, glass washers), rubbing eyes, sleeping primarily on one side, touching them too much or using oil-based products will also affect your Lash Extensions.

To keep your lashes maintained, infills are recommended every 2-3 weeks.

“My brows and lashes looked AMAZING !! I had so many compliments on them asking where I got them done. Attention to detail should be the name of her business, it’s no wonder you have to book in weeks in advance to get an appointment. I honestly can’t recommend The Beauty Room enough, if you want professionalism”
