Pre-care – Performance Skin Peels

This should be part of your daily routine anyway to give protection from UV Rays and most importantly pre-peel to ensure your skin is not sunburnt in any area prior.

For optimal results, a series of facial treatments will be recommended (minimum of 2 weeks between).

Stop the use of all Retinol products 48 hours prior to the treatment.

We recommend waiting between 3 -14 days following injectables before performing a facial treatment depending on the advice of the practitioner.

What To Expect During The Treatment

A slight tingling, itching, redness or heat may be experienced on the skin. This is due to the active ingredients within the products performing their action.

What To Expect After The Treatment

You may experience mild discomfort, redness and/or flaking of the skin after a Performance Treatment.

After an Ultraceuticals Signature or Performance Treatment you will be recommended a homecare program suited for your skin type and concerns.

It is not necessary to see visible flaking or peeling of the skin for the peel to have worked. Some clients will experience mild flaking or peeling, but not all will.

Makeup (preferably mineral) may be worn immediately following the treatment.

You must discontinue use of any corrective products in your homecare for the next 5-7 days. Brightening Accelerator Mask is 2 days. This includes products containing AHAs, BHA, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and Retinol (Vitamin A).

We highly recommend the Ultra Daily SPF Protection.

Avoid vigorous exercise or excessive heat including saunas, steam baths, hot showers or chlorinated pools for 48 hours following your treatment.

Avoid waxing, IPL or laser treatments for 2 weeks following the treatment.

Do not pick at peeling or flaking skin.

Do not prematurely expose the skin to the sun.

If you have any concerns following your treatment, please contact our team.

Frequently Asked Questions

A skin peel, also known as a chemical peel, is a cosmetic treatment that involves applying a chemical solution to the skin to exfoliate and refine and resurface layers of the skin.

Book a free consultation with one of our team members and we can assess any concerns and your skin type to determine the best Skin Peel for you.

We have a variety of Skin Peels and even one for sensitive skins! It is a good idea to let us know of your sensitivity prior to the Peel so that we are aware and may alter the Peel treatment if required.

Not all skin types or clients will experience ‘peeling’ or ‘flaking’ after a treatment. This does not mean that the treatment hasn’t worked! All skins react in a different way. Modern day peels have been developed to act beneath the skins surface layers, therefore, not necessarily ‘peeling’ the surface of the skin, penetrating much deeper into the Epidermis and Dermis layers. This allows for little to no downtime, a lot less discomfort and more appealing the clients due to the lesser ‘peeled’ surface look.

Skin peels can treat a variety of conditions including:

  1. Acne-Prone & Congested Skin
  2. Discolouration / Uneven Skin Tone
  3. Hyperpigmentation
  4. Dryness & Dehydration
  5. Dull & Lacklustre Skin
  6. Aging (Fine Lines & Wrinkles)
  7. Loss of Firmness
  8. Pores & Uneven Texture
  9. Sensitivity & Redness
  10. Oily Skin
  11. Sun Damage

Skin peels can be safe for all skin types. Please consult with one of our friendly team if you have any concerns.

The procedure typically involves the following steps:

  • The skin is thoroughly cleansed.
  • The chemical solution is applied to the skin.
  • You may feel a stinging or burning sensation as the solution works.
  • The solution is neutralized and removed after the appropriate amount of time

Results can vary depending on the type of peel. Depending on which peel you had, some results can be instant, some may take a few days or weeks.

It is however, recommended to have a course of treatments for optimal results.

We have no downtime in the Performance Skin Peels that we offer. Some clients may experience some flaking or peeling of the skin, but not all will experience this.

Make Up can be used after treatment if required and if the skin is not showing signs of irritation.

  • Follow your therapists instructions carefully.
  • Keep the skin moisturized.
  • Avoid sun exposure and use a high SPF sunscreen.
  • Avoid picking or peeling off the skin.
  • Use gentle skincare products.

The frequency of skin peels depends on the type of peel and individual skin condition. We usually recommend no sooner than 2 weeks in between.
